Setting Up UPS API Credentials for Shipping
Step 1: Access the UPS Developer Portal
Go to UPS Developer Portal.
Log in with your UPS account credentials.
Step 2: Navigate to the Apps Section
Once logged in, locate and click on the "Apps" or "My Apps" section.
⚠️ Note: If you encounter issues using Google Chrome, try using Firefox for better compatibility.
Step 3: Create a New App
In the Apps section, click on "Add Apps >" to create a new application.
Complete the form with the following details:
- "I need API credentials because" - Select "I want to integrate UPS technology into my business."
- Account Association - Select your UPS shipper account number.
- API Access Agreement - Check the box to agree.
Click Continue to proceed.
Step 4: Enter App Details
On the App Details screen, fill out the following:
- App Name: Choose a name for your integration (e.g., "My Shipping App").
- Callback URL: Enter https://ship.shipboss.io
- Billing Account Number: Should be pre-populated with your UPS account number.
Add the following approved API services:
- Rating
- Pickup
- Quantum View
- Address Validation
- Paperless Documents
- Authorization (OAuth)
- Tracking
- Shipping
- Time In Transit
- URL: Enter https://ship.shipboss.io.
⚠️ Note: If using your UPS account with a third-party application for the first time, email your UPS rep: “Please turn on negotiated rates over API for account XXXX.” This ensures correct rate display.
Step 5: Obtain API Credentials
After setup, view your App Info/Credentials page.
Copy your Client ID and Client Secret using the clipboard icons.
Step 6: Input Credentials in ShipBoss
Open ShipBoss and go to the Admin screen.
Navigate to the Meters tab and click "Create Personal Meter."
Select UPS as the carrier.
Enter:
- Title: Name your app.
- Billing Account Number
- Client ID and Client Secret (paste from UPS Developer Portal).
Click Save to complete setup.
